Scott Ray charged

He is on a search warrant alleging he broke into a house and stole prescription medicine.
Scott Ray is being charged with burglary and two counts of possession of a schedule II narcotic.

Ray has been suspended pending the results of the investigation.

The search warrant entails:

On Sept. 4, shortly before noon, a house on Spring Oaks Drive was broken into and the home’s video surveillance showed a man dressed in khaki pants and a red button-up shirt entering through the back door.
The man went immediately to the medications on the counter in the kitchen and took a bottle of Tramadol and Hydrocodone before leaving the house.

Ray was in charge of booking speakers for Covocation and was chaplain for LU’s Men’s Basketball team.

  1. I appreciate your sensitivity and willingness to avoid tabloid style exploitation of a breaking story. It’s time to out all of those campus pastor burglers [sic].

Oh please, it’s definitely newsworthy, they have him on camera, so don’t make him out to be the victim by describing a simple news piece as “tabloid style exploitation”. I admire your courage for reporting ALL the news about what’s going on at Liberty. We all know Liberty likes the positive publicity generated by Snowflex and other ambitious building projects, so they should very well know that when something negative surfaces, it will be reported too. And for the Christians that think the media is just after them, this story would be circulated just as much if it was someone in leadership at UVA or VT. He messed up, lets all hope he gets the help he needs.

  5. And you missed the point.

This site is notorious for copy/pasting AP stories, misleading headlines, sensationalism, et cetera. It’s a classic example of the kind of pseudo-journalism freely available on the Internet.

Yes, Scott Ray is a burglar (spelled correctly) in the strictest sense but there are better, more helpful ways to cover this story. (And yes it should be covered)

The sad thing about this article is the typos + general lack of clarity. As to the story itself, yes…definitely needing coverage.

Although the story is true, the headline is not. Scott Ray was not and has never been a Campus Pastor. He was director of convocation. Not that this excuses his actions, but if you’re going to post a story as news, at least get the facts straight please.

Actually Lauren, he was a campus pastor. Not that his former duties at LU have anything to do with the issue at hand, I just wanted to correct you on that.

    I agree with Clifton!!!
