Lynchburg approve the plan for a series of improvements such as crosswalks on Wards Road, which is not a place for pedestrians.
The first phase of the plan alone is tentatively expected to cost around $1 million. City Officials are looking for grant money for that.
LU’s goal for a pedestrian tunnel will eventually happen. It will empty out directly behind the Vitamin Shoppe store.
The first road project is a lighted crosswalk between Vitamin Shoppe and Sam’s Club. The tunnel construction is expected to begin next year.
