Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. released this statement Thursday:\n \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Governor Ralph Northam\u2019s comments regarding \ninfanticide on Wednesday are reprehensible. He has shown once again that\n he is not a Governor for all Virginians\u2014not the pro-life and not the \nunborn. Such extremism has no place in Virginia or America, where each \nindividual has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness \nendowed by our Creator.\n <\/p>
I have two granddaughters: one 11 months old\n and the other is due to be born any day now. The thought of legalizing \nthe murder of either one of them is repulsive and barbaric.”\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The Liberty Council also released a statement regarding this bill:\n \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Democratic Governor Ralph Northam and Democratic \nVirginia Delegate Kathy Tran are advocating to loosen the requirements \nof late-term abortion in Virginia, which even includes killing of the \nchild during or after delivery.\n <\/p>
The Repeal Act, introduced as HB2491 by \nTran, would repeal restrictions on third trimester abortions all the way\n up to 40 weeks. This bill would allow abortionists to self-certify the \nnecessity of the procedures, eliminate informed consent requirements, \nrepeal health and safety standards for abortion clinics, and allow \nlate-term abortions to be performed in outpatient clinics. The Repeal \nAct removes hospital requirements on clinics and providers, laws that \nmandate informed consent, a combination of mandatory ultrasounds, \n\u201cbiased literature,\u201d the 24-hour waiting period for abortions in \nVirginia, and additional doctor requirements for late-term abortions.\n <\/p>
In fact, if a woman is dilating and about to give birth, she could still request an abortion.\n <\/p>
Governor Northam defended these efforts to \nloosen abortion restrictions in Virginia. Northam said, \u201cIf a mother is \nin labor…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept \ncomfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that\u2019s what the mother \nand the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the \nphysicians & mother.\u201d\n <\/p>
In an exclusive interview with the Daily \nCaller, President Donald Trump supported the sanctity of human life when\n he harshly criticized Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and Democratic \nVirginia Delegate Kathy Tran\u2019s advocacy to loosen requirements of \nlate-term abortion.\n <\/p>
President Trump said, \u201cDo you remember when I\n said Hillary Clinton was willing to rip the baby out of the womb? \nThat’s what it is, that\u2019s what they\u2019re doing, it’s terrible\u2026This is \ngoing to lift up the whole pro-life movement like maybe it’s never been \nlifted up before…I think this will very much lift up the issue because\n people have never thought of it in those terms.\u201d
