Students Smoke Up A Dorm From Cooking Deep Fried Snacks

A cooking fire caused the temporary evacuation of a men’s dorm on Liberty University’s Campus Monday night.

No one was hurt, said Battalion Chief Greg Wormser of the Lynchburg Fire Department. The fire caused little damage to the building from the smoke and use of the fire extinguisher.

The fire was reported at 9:31 p.m. Liberty Senior Cody Burke said the fire started after his roommates attempted to deep fry Oreos and Kit-Kats on their dorm room stove.

Students were allowed back into the building at around 10:52 pm, after about an hour standing outside in the parking lot, some in bare feet.
