Liberty University Test Indoor Drones to Speed Up Emergency Response

Brecourt Solutions is developing an Indoor Drone as First Responder (iDFR) system designed to assist during emergencies like active shooter situations. Built by former military and law enforcement professionals, the drone can fly indoors using onboard cameras and visual navigation to stay stable without GPS.

The goal is to dramatically cut emergency response times from minutes to seconds by deploying drones instantly from charging stations inside buildings and allowing them to be operated remotely. Future plans include adding a non-harmful device that uses AI to identify threats and disable weapons without endangering bystanders.

The system has been tested at Liberty University, which is the first university deployment, and has drawn strong interest from faculty and campus police. Brecourt emphasizes the technology is meant to support and multiply the effectiveness of first responders—not replace them.
