Liberty University set to appeal lawsuit from fired transgender employee

Liberty University was granted permission to appeal a lawsuit filed against the school by a former employee who said she was fired for being transgender.

The case dates back to 2023, when Ellenor Zinski says the school fired her after she told the HR Department she identifies as a transgender woman.

In 2024, the ACLU filed the lawsuit against Liberty, which argues that Zinski violated the university’s doctrinal statement and policies regarding the biblical understanding of gender.

On Friday, the Court of Appeals on Friday granted Liberty permission to appeal the lawsuit.
