Roanoke Man found guilty

Paul Harris has been convicted in the drunken driving deaths of a Liberty University professor and her 16-year-old son.

Media outlets report a Roanoke County Circuit Court jury found him guilty Friday on two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and one count each of maiming and driving under the influence.

Harris admitted running a red light on U.S. Route 460 near Bonsack last August. The crash killed 41-year-old Jill Jones and her son Nico and injured another woman in a third vehicle.

Prosecutors said Harris’ blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit to drive.

The jury recommended a sentence of 38 years and a $2,500 fine. Harris will be sentenced on July 6.
