Liberty University’s new emergency operations center, recently celebrated as a “storm-ready” university, aims to save lives and enhance community resilience in the face of hazardous weather events. The center, serving as Virginia’s Region 3 Coordination Center, fosters state partnership, coordination, and cooperation to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. Led by dedicated professionals like National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Phil Hysell and Liberty Vice President of Security and Public Safety Marcus Tinsley, the center prioritizes community engagement, preparedness, and continuous improvement to ensure swift and effective response during crises.
