Underage drinking sparked a rise in alcohol violations at Liberty University between 2007 and 2009, according to school officials and crime statistics collected by the federal Department of Education.
LU reported 93 liquor law violations in 2009, up from 20 in 2008 and 21 in 2007.
School officials say the growing student body and increased police vigilance contributed to the spike in alcohol violations.
