LU will not take scholarship away from Ms. CA

The university statement reads; “Liberty University will not revoke the scholarship we offered to Carrie Prejean. We will continue to stand with Prejean, despite past decisions, in her public defense of traditional marriage.  Inviting someone to Convocation is not an endorsement of all of their views or past decisions.  We invited Prejean to Convocation because she was berated and discriminated against because of her public support of traditional marriage.  This is why we invited her and this is why we offered her a scholarship.“

“Of course, what really is going on here is a ceaseless attempt by the enemies of marriage to further embarrass this young woman because of her personal convictions.  It is no surprise that those who have been mocking, slandering, and attacking this young woman for more than a week would continue to do so.  If they were not able to dredge something up from her past; they would have invented it.  We are praying for Ms. Prejean.“

Prejean is not sure if she’ll take Liberty up on the scholarship offer.

  1. Bravo,

A true understanding of the western philosophy; you do not have to agree with everything a person does in order to agree with them on a single point.

Personally, I found nothing offensive or un-christian in her lingerie modelling pictures.

i just gotta say, this was an epic failure…the school, and christians in general should really check into people before we make them our poster-child and/or hero.
frankly, if any of the students here were found to have taken revealing pictures (even “fully clothed” ones) we’d be stacked with repremands, and required to report to student affairs so they could charge us money and berate us. i find this entire situation to be a farse…and with the rulers of the “christian right” had a bit more common sense.

I just gotta say the attempt by the radical left wing to destrony Ms. prejean was an epic failure. The liberals and the gay activists in general should really check in to people before we assume that citizens want to condone homosexual marriage.
Frankly, I find the entire situation a farce where a radical honosexual Internet blogger who makes his living out of attacking people would even be chosen as a judge at a beauty contest for women. I find it comical also that the media act as the attack arm of the far left and try to destroy this young woman just because she doesn’t agree with their gay agenda.

  7. It’s time for hetero america to stand up and speak up, to put these gay mafia thugs in their place. I am sick and tired of the tail wagging the dog.
They need to be shut up and shouted down in the same manner they do to Christians and anyone else with traditional conservative views and values.

Bravo LU. I also agree with Dusty, we need to stand up for what we believe and not be intimidated by these special interest groups. This is America, and you are free to believe in what you want. At least for the moment.

    @ V

So you refer to “we” as you refer to students who would have to face reprimands.

But then you make stupid generalizations about the “rulers of the “Christian right””.

So are you a disgruntled student? Or a lying troll?

Yes, truly intelligent people can see when the dregs of society are trying to tear a good person down. They probably want to offer her two scholarshiops.

Why are liberty students defending this person? all she did was say her personal opinion is that “opposite” marriage is correct. she did not say that gay marriage was wrong, or anything else terribly significant for that matter. somehow, we managed to turn her into the latest sarah palin (or joe the plumber), “bandwagoning” her into an obviously undeserved position of heroism certainly not fitting the reality of what was actually said. Students were then forced to listen to her hypocrisy as she claimed to be “God’s girl” in convocation. why is it so hard for the university, and many of its students to admit that a mistake was made? this isn’t about the “gay agenda” anymore, it’s about the fact that the school – which we love dearly – had a lapse in judgement and should probably save face by owning up to it.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Liberty brings in plenty of speakers that do not reflect views of the university 100%. Carrie Prejean is no different than you or I, she just had the opportunity to witness to people on national television. Call it what you wish, but her statement does defend traditional values. It’s frustrating when Christians hound homosexuals for their sins when we all have our faults. She stated her opinion when the pressure was on, that’s why LU administration applauded her. Her pictures are part of her career, get over it. She wasn’t an LU student then, and she probably never will be. If she does come, she’ll be expected to follow the rules, but until then she’s not required to follow the liberty way. How was inviting her a mistake? How was she hypocritical?
