Lynchburg prosecutor: No charges in fatal shooting of Liberty U. student

No criminal charges will be filed against a Liberty University security officer who fatally shot a student in November, according to a report released this morning from the Lynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

The report, prepared by Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Jeff Bennett, states that security officer A. S. Mulberry acted in self-defense when he shot Joshua Hathaway, 19, on Nov. 19 at a residential annex on Albert Lankford Drive.
