Ga. man leaves $1 million to Liberty University

A $1 million donation to Liberty University will be used to fund scholarships for students pursuing missions work.

Liberty says in a news release that the donation came from a Georgia man who died in October 2011 at the age of 82. The man named the university as the main beneficiary in his will.

Liberty didn’t identify the donor.

Everett Foutz with the university’s Planned Giving Department says the man was a private person who donated the money in honor of his mother and brother.

Foutz says the man was interested in missions work and spent time overseas in government service.
