“Witness Unto Me” blog gathered evidence of Caner’s biography not matching up to his own on the Liberty site. Once this information was released earlier in the year, his bio was taken down and updated. His bio had included the claim that Caner came to the US in 1979 ( which reads, “… homeLIFE Ergun was born in Stockholm, Sweden to turkish parents and in 1979 immigrated
to the United States with his parents, grandmother, and two brothers. … “) disappeared from the Liberty website. It brought up false claims about his past, being trained as a jihadist, living in Turkey, majority Muslim countries.

They’ve got hold of his parent’s separation agreement, documents not using his Muslim name, and his locations when he was young (proclaiming he grew up in Muslim nations but shown he didn’t). The blog claims Caner’s excerpts don’t match up with the evidence.

Here’s a video Caner claiming debating certain Muslims:

Dr. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries has debated Shabir Ally on four occasions. After being contacted by White, Mr. Ally says he has never debated Caner.

Some of these bloggers come from the James White and Calvinist camp, which White wanted to debate Caner a couple of years ago but didn’t go through.

Liberty University released an email statement about Dr. Ergun Caner, president of the university seminary:
“Liberty University does not evaluate personnel based upon blogs. However, in light of the fact that mainstream media have recently raised questions, the Provost of Liberty University is appointing a committee to look into these matters. A Decision as to the efficacy, or or lack of same, is expected by June 30.”

For the past couple of months, bloggers have alleged that Caner has knowingly deceived the Christian community about his Muslim background.
Some of these allegations include:
* Growing up in Turkey, when he actually grew up in Ohio.
* Being raised in a devout Muslim home, rather than a nominal one.
* Having been involved in Islamic jihad.
* Having debated dozens of Muslims about the Islamic faith, although there is no video or audio evidence.

Mangum Economic Consulting conducted a research that showed LU pumping $217 million into Lynchburg’s economy last year.

The study also names Liberty as the Hill City’s second largest employer, with one out of every ten jobs connected to the school in some way.

LU has added more than 3,000 jobs to its campus since 2001.
