LU’s Basketball Jenkins Signs With MSU

Murray State Basketball Head Coach Billy Kennedy announced the signing of 6-0 guard B.J. Jenkins.

The native of Virginia Beach, Va. transfers to MSU from Liberty University and will sit out the 2008-09 season and have two seasons to compete for the Racers beginning with the 2009-10 season.

In Jenkins sophomore season for the Liberty Flames in 2007-08 he appeared in all 32 games and made 31 starts in getting 9.9 points per game and 4.4 rebounds. He scored a career-high 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting against Niagara and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds against Longwood.

As a freshman in the 2006-07 season, Jenkins saw action in 31 games and made two starts and scored 4.8 points per game.

In two seasons for the Flames, Jenkins shot .410 from the field, .325 from three-point range, and .788 from the free throw line.

Jenkins was a three-year starter at Green Run High School where he was the all-time scoring leader at the school, with 1,357 points (17.4 per game average). He also had 506 rebounds, 511 assists and 383 steals and was a three-time All-Beach District First Team selection, garnered a spot on the All-Tidewater Area Second Team and All-Eastern Region squad during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He was also a McDonald’s All-American nominee after his senior year when he averaged 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 5.8 steals per game. Jenkins was the only prep player in Virginia to record consecutive quadruple-doubles during the year.
