Some Residential Professors asked to be Online only

Flex contracts were given to certain faculty starting in early March. Due to the new block schedule and larger classes, Liberty University has an overabundance of resident professors. Where most colleges would lay off their teachers, Liberty has given them the opportunity to teach online and still retain their full pay and benefits. Liberty has termed this transition as “the reorganization.”

The Communication and Business Departments had the greatest number of flex contracts handed to professors. The Business Department’s faculty has gone from 15 resident professors to six because of the flex contract. Ten professors were given the flex contract out of 24 Communication Studies resident professors.

Just got an update from Dr. Barker: Sadly, administration did not renew her traditional contract so she accepted a job at I believe Coastal Carolina University.

Good article. Sounds like things have change a lot, since I graduated. Interesting how things are changing so quickly…I loved Dr. Kelly and glad that the flex contract works for him; however, having taken online classes
and residential classes, I can say that there is less of a personal feel online. I will say one thing, make sure you proof your spelling…soldiers are deployed, not diploid.

Great article. Thank you for sharing this important news story that the administration won’t allow to be printed elsewhere. (Please change, however, “diploid” to “deployed.”)

This is very unfortunate. If I wanted an online degree, I would have gone to the University of Pheonix.

the article posted was actually the uncorrected one that I didn’t do spell check on…I had that fixed and a few other grammatical errors fixed in the one I turned in for class 🙂

like i said in a below comment. I accidentally emailed the guy the uncorrected version of the article. The one I turned in for class was free of grammatical errors–unlike the one i sent….
